Andre Ayew
Nowhere near the player he was at Swansea!

Is it the injury he had at the start of the Season? He looks slow and lightweight

Re: Andre Ayew
Not been thrilled by his overall play considering the price tag but he's definitely got an eye for goal and scored a couple of important ones.

His all round game is getting better. I think he like many others is suffering from what appears to be a lack of coherent gameplan and an ever changing cast week in week out.

If he gets a goal every other game then he is ok by me.

Re: Andre Ayew
Since coming back from AFCON he has done ok but i still think he can deliver more

watching him saturday he shirks and bottles too many challenges. I want to see him put himself about a bit more

Agree wth below though and is a good point, he seems to have a nack of chances dropping to him in the box

5 goals in 11 starts and should have scored more.

Don't get why he is slagged off.

Re: Andre Ayew
Keep him fit and Ayew can easily get 10-15 league goals a season simply by being at the right place at the right time.

Good player who I am sure will be in our starting 11 come next season.

Roll on the arrival of the s8 on Thursday.

Referring to the thread topic, I've been thoroughly unimpressed with ayew

Re: Andre Ayew
I've never thought tap ins were an accident; yes, the odd rebound that falls to a midfielder but the likes of Gerd Muller weren't successful by luck. They were in the right place continuously.

I tell my 13 year old, who keeps scoring goals, that they aren't accidents. If it was that easy everyone would be scoring goals and they don't; just a few.

If Ayew scores at the rate of 5/11, 10/22 and 15/33 that's not a problem how he scores them, is it?

Re: Andre Ayew
It's putting the ball over the line that counts not how spectacular the finish is. I remember years ago Spurs had beaten us by a couple of goals. Walking home my mate said to me "that Greaves is a lazy. over rated, sod all he did was score [ twice ] and one of them only trickled in.

You have to be in position to tap them in

Re: Andre Ayew
Isn't he earning enough to bother learning how to kick with his right foot? It beats me why we sign so many one-footed players.

He gets stick because people obsess over his price tag. Hardly his fault that we paid over the odds or that we didn't do more to sign him the previous summer when he was on a free.

Re: Andre Ayew
Doesn't make enough intelligent runs to open up play for my liking, and doesn't make it easy for the midfield to search him out in space and he's slow to get in the box on a break.

Not a bad player just expect more for that money.

Goals don't count unless you beat five players and nutmeg the goalie.

"Complaining about tap ins! Only on WHO!"

It beggars belief, doesn't it...By that logic does that mean Tony Cottee, Clive Allen & Gary Lineker were shit..?!

*shakes head*

Re: Andre Ayew
He's a big enough name globally that we could easily get our money back if we chose to by flogging him to China, Qatar or Saudi Arabia.

I don't think he's a great all round player but he seems to time his runs into the box really well and is a bit of a poacher.

The injury looked to have wiped out his whole season but he's coming back and showing a fair bit of promise.
